Stayed at the Real Marina Residence 22/11/11. Cannot say a bad comment about the hotel it was idilic. We arrived late Tuesday evening and received a great welcome from the most friendliest of staff. We recieved the passes to our apartment and was in awe of the place. So clean and spacious with everything you could need (apart from a washing machine??? I cant believe other reviews if thats all they have to moan about - get a grip). Even though we were in the apartments we were given use of the facilities in the hotel. i.e bars and restaurants. The other facilities were available at an additional cost (not much). The bar staff and restaurant staff spoke many languages. The surrounding area's were very dated but I suppose it is their culture and we were fascinated to sit in the bars and taverns located in the old town and enjoy their rituals. Being the true brits that we are managed to locate PIZZA NE PEDRA'S a gorgeous pizza and pasta restaurant located on the main strip.
Stayed in the residence apartment, 20/10/11 for 1 week and it is excellent, all mod cons, hairdryer, toaster, fridge freezer, aircon which also heats too in each room, cooker, microwave, ironing board, iron, 2 bathrooms, one with toilet, shower, BD, sink, the other with toilet, BD, overhead shower and bath, sink. Quiet electric roller shutters on each room windows, which is great as the little one thought it was still night time, clean, safe and secure building, rooftop small pool (was cold though) extra cost to use Hotel pool, which was cold too, but inside pool warm, our flight didnt go until 19:55hrs, was supposed to be out of apartment for 10am, but we were allowed to use until 12.00 then were allowed to use hotel facilities, excellent customer services, highly recommend Hortas seafood restraunt, fast service even when busy, local produce, friendly staff, large portions of simple food, local supermarket behind the Italian restraunt, stear clear of nature reserve, lots of rubbish!
Just returned from a fortnight in the apartments. Absolutely fabulous. everything we needed on hand although i would have preferred a washing machine to a dishwasher iron and board much appreciated. Olhão suited us completely as we are not into touristy places there were plenty of shops and the markets were very colorful and cheap.we spent a lot of time wandering the quaint streets the church was charming and we found the new shopping centre which was great. We were upgraded when we arrived so had a two bedroom apartment which was absolutely lovely , what with that and TV channels from England which we have never had anywhere else, it made for a smashing holiday, we would thoroughly recommend it. Ten star!!
Stayed in these apartments for 4 nights in Sept and can't recommend highly enough. They're in a great location, just minutes away from the main area, the accommodation is fantastic in every respect with the added bonus of a lovely little pool on the roof with sunbeds - the view from there is sensational!! Check in at the hotel, staff fantastic! For those beach lovers, the ferry over to the islands (leaves from the front of the Marina Hotel)-we went to Farol - is a definite must, you could almost be in the Caribbean. Olhao is a traditional fishing village which looks run down in places but then again so do a lot of the resorts west of Faro, so if you're looking for the usual type of Algarve holiday resort then probably wouldn't suit but that said I'm delighted we chose this resort as it gave us the opportunity to experience the 'real' Algarve, we really enjoyed ambling around the cobbled streets of the old town, they're lovely. All in all a great holiday at the Real Marina Residence.
My family stayed in the apartments for the first week in July. I can't commend the apartments enough. They had all you needed except a washing machine. They were bright, clean and spacious. The pool on the roof terrace was shared between 6 flats and was a great size for my family of 2 boys. There was a secure entrance for 6 flats and video intercom in the apartment. The supermarket was 10 mins walk and the restaurants and chemist 5 mins in the opposite direction. This area is not over developed and allows you to enjoy the area without too much bustle but close enough to Faro if you want more variety. We had a fabulous town in the area as we hired a car and travelled around. Would definatley go back.
